Role

Product Designer

Time period

2009

Askin Suzuner, founder of artlimits, was introduced to me by a friend. Askin told me he wanted to build a platform where art lovers can find affordable pieces of modern art from select artists all around the world. I loved the idea and soon after we started working together. While he handled the business side of artlimits, I worked on product & UX/UI design, front-end coding and Shopify implementation.

The artlimits logo, created by me, has a modern but bold personality. We wanted to keep it simple and clear. This allowed us to easily overlay the logo on some artworks which we used to promote artlimits & its artists on social media platforms.

I wanted to create a design where visual design is so minimal, it makes artworks the biggest focus point on the site. An elegant design that will impress artists and make them want to work with artlimits.

Askin was really fun to work with. He also cared about details as much as I do. We worked with an independent illustrator to create custom gift cards and certificate of authenticities. A certificate of authenticity was signed by the artist and Askin and given with each copy of the artworks.

I designed an interactive real-size view feature to help customers understand the sizes of artworks.

We thought showing artworks just as images on the screen wasn't the best way to present them. That's why I worked with a professional photographer & a model and we did a photoshoot.
